Terrorist Hideout
New Delhi: Security forces have busted a terrorist hideout in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces discovered this terrorist hideout in Hari Marote village of Surankot sector of the district. The terrorist hideout was discovered during a joint search operation conducted by security forces including Army, Police and SOG late on Sunday night, from where five IEDs, wireless sets and some clothes were recovered.
In a joint intensive search operation conducted by the Indian Army's Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Para Commando Unit and Jammu and Kashmir Police, a sophisticated 'fox hole' (hiding pit) of Pakistani terrorists was exposed, where firing took place on April 30. The structure of this 'fox hole' and the resources hidden in it had surprised even the security agencies. In this underground pit, about six feet deep and eight feet wide, the terrorists had arranged for a long-term hideout. Here the terrorists had hidden gas cylinders, solar lights, weapons and other essential items.
Earlier, the Bandipora Police had arrested four suspects while busting a module of Over Ground Workers (OGWs) associated with the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The police had received intelligence that some OGWs associated with LeT were conspiring to target police, security forces and outside citizens on the instructions of their Pakistani handlers. Based on this information, Bandipora Police set up special checkpoints in the area and conducted a search operation. In this sequence, the police, D-Coy 45 Battalion CRPF and E-Coy of 13 RR jointly set up a check post in Kanipora Naidkhai Sumbal area. During checking, two suspects - Mohammad Rafiq Khande and Mukhtar Ahmed Dar were arrested. During their search, two Chinese hand grenades, one 7.62 mm magazine and 30 rounds of 7.62 mm live cartridges were recovered from them. In this regard, FIR No. 88/2025 under relevant sections of UAPA has been registered at Police Station Sumbal and investigation has been started.
